Duke and Duchess of Cambridge say goodbye to New York
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on their way back to the UK after an action-packed visit to the United States.
The pair attended a gala dinner for their former university, St Andrews, last night in New York.
The Duchess has told how she was moved after visiting the memorial to victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks during their visit.
William and Kate paid their respects to the victims by laying a bouquet of white roses - the state flower of New York - on a bronze panel lining one of the pools that was embossed with the names of the dead.

Prince William pays tribute to St Andrew's at New York gala
The Duke of Cambridge paid tribute to his former univeristy in New York, saying that, "St Andrew's blend of academic excellence, mixed with a liberal approach to critical thought and creative reasoning, is one that both our nations, on both sides of the Atlantic, credit with importance."
Prince William was giving a speech at a benefit for the Scottish university at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which attended with the Duchess of Cambridge, the pair met while studying at St Andrew's.

William braves cold to go up Empire State Building
Prince William made a solo visit to the Empire State Building as part of his three-day New York trip.
Wearing only a suit, the cold did not appear to bother the Duke of Cambridge as he was shown the view.
As the royal couple arrived two days ago the top of the building was lit up in red, white and blue to signify the colours of the British flag.

William and Kate's visit to the 9/11 memorial in New York has made headlines around the world, helping keep the memory of that tragic day alive.
Nearly 3,000 people, including 67 Britons, lost their lives in the attacks 13 years ago.

Royals visit newly built One World Trade Center
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the newly built One World Trade Center after their visit to the 9/11 memorial.
The tower, which at 1,792 ft is the tallest building in America, opened this year replacing the twin towers which were demolished in the 9/11 attacks 13 years ago.
William and Kate also visited youth development centre, The Door. to meet young people who have benefited from their training programmes.

Kate 'moved' and in 'awe' by visit to 9/11 memorial
The Duchess of Cambridge said she was "moved" by her visit to the 9/11 memorial and being able to touch the names of those who died.
Kate, who signed her name alongside William's in a book of condolence, told the museum's chief of staff Allison Blais she was in awe of how big the museum was.
The memorial is for the 2,983 victims from 90 countries who died in the attacks 13 years ago.

The attacks claimed the lives of 2,606 people in New York and 2,983 in total. The museum features photographs of the victims and various artifacts from that fateful day.
Kate and William lay flowers at 9/11 memorial
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge laid a bouquet of flowers at the 9/11 memorial today during their visit to New York.
Kate lovingly placed the flowers down and made the sure the bow was tied around them.
The card read: "In sorrowful memory of those who died on September 11th and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild."
Later the royal couple are due to visit the Empire State Building before hosting a ball.
It is expected to be a celebrity-studded event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, better known as The Met.
