Npower 'most complained-about energy provider'

Energy giant Npower emerged as the UK's most complained-about major power supplier, according to new figures. The German-owned firm received 10 times as many complaints as its best performing rival, the Citizen's Advice Bureau said.

Npower: Making 'good progress' with billing problems

Beleaguered energy supplier Npower said it was "making good progress" getting to the root cause of problems with its new billing system, despite accusations this lead to the dubious title of "most complained about energy provider".

Roger Hattam, director of domestic retail business for NPower insisted the firm is tackling its customer service problems.

We wrote to all our customers during this period last year apologising for the impact on them of issues we have had with the implementation of our new billing system.

We are making good progress in dealing with the root causes of this, but remain totally committed to resolving any problems this has created for our customers.

Complaints about Npower 'soar by 300%' in one year

  • The Citizen's Advice Bureau found complaints about energy supplier Npower soared by 300% to over 300 for every 100,000 customers from January 2012 to December 2013.
  • Npower, which has 5.9 million UK customers, has been at the bottom of the energy complaints league table since the end of 2012.
  • Among the top gripes were bills arriving late, payments being stopped and new accounts not being set up.

Npower 'most complained-about energy provider'

'Big Six' energy giant Npower has emerged as Britain's most complained energy provider, according to fresh data.

The German owned company received 306 complaints for every 100,000 customers between October and December last year, the Citizens Advice Bureau said.

Npower, which imposed the highest price hike last winter, had three times as many complaints as the second worst performing supplier, Scottish Power, which attracted 100.5 complaints per every 100,000 customers.

Npower's new billing system is believed to be behind many of the complaints, who claim to have been sent inaccurate charges.
