Teenage girl, 15, died after being shot in the neck

A post-mortem examination found Shereka died as a result of a gunshot wound to the neck, a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

A teenage girl killed in a shooting incident yesterday has been described by friends as "bubbly" and "very funny".

Mourners today paid tribute to Shereka Marsh, 15, at the scene of the death in Hackney, east London, laying flowers and leaving messages of condolence.

Chainelle Jennings, 16, was among a group of eight friends who gathered opposite the property where the shooting occurred.

"She was a nice bubbly girl and she loved to party, loved shopping. She was just like the kind of girl that you would have to fall in love with," she said.

Drew Percival, 16, a friend of the victim for three years, said: "She had a good mindset, she was very funny. She was more of the business type. She liked her clothes, it was all designer. She was very sociable, a lot of friends."

A gun has been recovered from the house were a 15-year-old girl was shot, police have confirmed.

Three males, all under 18, who were arrested nearby and taken to an east London police station yesterday, remain in custody.

A 15 year old girl who was shot dead in Hackney yesterday afternoon has been named by close friends as Shereka Marsh.

A girl believed to be 15-years-old has been shot dead at a home in east London, Scotland Yard said.

Police were called to reports of a shooting at a residential address in Eastway, Hackney shortly before 4pm yesterday.

Police are continuing to guard outside the terraced house where the shooting happened. The street, which backs on to Wick Woodland, remains closed to allow detectives to carry out their inquiries.
