Only Fools and Horses star Roger Lloyd Pack dies

Only Fools and Horses star Roger Lloyd Pack has died at his London home last night, surrounded by his family, his agent said. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer. He was best known for playing Trigger, but was also a successful stage actor.

Daughter 'devastated' by death of Roger Lloyd Pack

The daughter of Only Fools and Horses actor Roger Lloyd Pack has said her father "touched the hearts of many people".

In a statement, Emily Lloyd said: "I am devastated by the death of my father whom I loved dearly."He bore his terrible illness with incredible bravery and his family were at his bedside when he passed away.

"Roger has touched the hearts of many people during a career that spanned nearly 50 years on stage and screen and I want to thank everyone for their wonderful wishes."

Visitors to the ITV News Facebook page have been paying tribute to Only Fools and Horses actor Roger Lloyd Pack, who died last night, aged 69.

Delroy Mason said: "Nothing will ever come close to fools and horses. Del and Rodney get all the praise but it was people like Trigger who always got the biggest laughs.

I'll never forget the line about going past the pub to get to the flat to get a lift to the pub - the way it was delivered was genious. So sad. Rest in peace.

After hearing of the death of Roger Lloyd Pack, Nicholas Lyndhurst has paid tribute to his former Only Fools and Horses co-star.

I was very saddened to hear of Roger’s passing.

He was a very quiet, kind and unassuming actor who was a pleasure to work with.

Although he played the simple soul of Trigger in Only Fools and Horses, he was a very intelligent man and a very fine actor capable of many roles.

Lloyd Pack recognised public affection for Trigger

Despite appearing as a successful stage actor and in numerous television and film dramas, Roger Lloyd Pack knew he would always be best known as Trigger.

In a 2012 interview with the Guardian, he said: "People will never stop shouting "Trigger!" at me in the street.

"The other day I jumped some lights on my bike because someone was hollering at me. A police van pulled me over, and when I stopped they also shouted: "Trigger!". It can be very annoying."

John Challis, best known as Boycie in Only Fools and Horses, has called Roger Lloyd Pack "remarkable" and "irreplaceable":

I spoke to Roger two days ago.

Roger said it was a bit awkward to talk at that particular moment. It is very sad and very distressing.

My thoughts are with his family. He was a remarkable man and he'll be missed.

Roger is irreplaceable. It's a very sorry day.

Lord Sugar: Trigger was one of my favourite characters

Lord Sugar has commented on the passing of Roger Lloyd Pack, revealing that Trigger was one of his favourite television characters.

Although best-known for playing the road-sweeper in Only Fools And Horses, Lloyd-Pack appeared in numerous films and TV shows including a regular role as farmer Owen Newitt in The Vicar Of Dibley.
