The United States says it is still committed to hold peace talks with the Taliban despite an attack by militants in the Afghan capital. Yesterday's assault targeted Afghanistan's Presidential Palace the US CIA Headquarters.
The attack came a week after US and Taliban representatives attempted to meet in the Qatari capital of Doha - a session which was cancelled following objections from the Afghan government.

The Taliban says it attacked the Presidential Palace and other nearby buildings in the Afghan capital, Kabul. In a short message, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahi said:
