Britain hit by flash flooding
Heavy rain and thunderstorms have caused a second day of flash flooding in some parts of Northern England and Central Scotland. The Met Office has an amber warning in place for North East England.

JCB driver rescued from rising floodwater
A JCB driver had to be rescued today in Newcastle as rising floodwaters swirled around him. He was safely taken onto a waiting raft by rescue teams.
Flash flooding hits Tyne and Wear
There has been heavy rain and flash floods in Tyneside and Wearside.
On the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside, people had to run for shelter as the rain started pouring down.

Flash floods threaten homes in East Ayrshire
One area hit hard by heavy rain and flash floods is Galston in East Ayrshire. These pictures show the height of the flooding today before the waters began to recede.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms disrupt traffic
Thunderstorms have disrupted traffic in some parts of the country for a second day. Northumbria Police say the Central Motorway in Newcastle has been closed because of floods.
Other roads have also been affected.

The Met Office has issued an Amber weather warning for north east England, Yorkshire and Humber.
The public are told to "be prepared for disruption" due to localised flooding.
