Network Rail's new electric train service between Maidenhead and Paddington was facing delays this morning just weeks after it was launched.

The problem was with a loss of power causing up to 20 minute delays on all services into Paddington.

The electrification project is years late and at £2.8 billion it is three times over budget.

Power was lost between Paddington and Maidenhead and an investigation is now underway to look into this. Power to the wires which run above the track was lost between Paddington and Maidenhead at 7.45am with the power being reset at 7.57am. This followed reports of arching of wires near West Ealing and Network Rail engineers are now looking into the issue and why it happened."
