Human remains have been found at the site of an explosion in Osney Mead in Oxford.
A search of the area around Gibbs Crescent started at 10am this morning - the human remains this afternoon.
The process of recovering the deceased person is under way.
Emergency services were called to the area on Tuesday afternoon to reports of an explosion, a fire and the collapse of a property.
On Thursday Thames Valley Police issued a public appeal for Guido Schuette, aged 48, who was unaccounted for and was believed to have died during the incident.
His family has been informed of the latest development today and are continuing to be offered support from officers.
Gibbs Crescent will remain closed until further notice.
“Forensic identification procedures will have to take place to identify the deceased person which will take some time due to the nature of the incident. Our thoughts remain with everyone who has been affected by this incident.”
