Major incident declared on M20 over bank holiday weekend

The M20 in Kent was closed in both directions for almost 24 hours between Junctions 3 and 4 at West Malling near Maidstone due to a serious incident. A lorry carrying a digger struck a footbridge over the motorway in the Londonbound direction.

M20 reopened on eastbound carriageway after bridge collapse - other side Londonbound remains shut

The M20 has been reopened eastbound towards the coast. Although, one lane remains closed. That's after the collapse of a footbridge yesterday on the M20 westbound between M25 J3 / A20 (Swanley Interchange) and J4 A228 (Leybourne / Snodland).

The westbound carriageway, towards London, remains fully closed.
