Major fire at the Fireworks Factory shop in Southampton

More than sixty firefighters in ten fire engines spent much of the day dealing with a large fire at the Fireworks Factory shop on Bitterne Road West in Southampton.

Neighbouring properties were evacuated just after 5am this morning with more than 60 people having to leave their homes. The area was also cordoned off for the emergency services to deal with the incident.

Dramatic fireworks fire was started accidentally

A fire that started in a fireworks warehouse in Southampton has been found to have started accidentally.

Plastic-wrapped cardboard boxes stacked close to a 300w light bulb, that had been left on, ignited. The fire was discovered by a delivery driver making a drop-off at 0500.
