Major fire at the Fireworks Factory shop in Southampton

More than sixty firefighters in ten fire engines spent much of the day dealing with a large fire at the Fireworks Factory shop on Bitterne Road West in Southampton.

Neighbouring properties were evacuated just after 5am this morning with more than 60 people having to leave their homes. The area was also cordoned off for the emergency services to deal with the incident.

Fire at fireworks store started 'accidentally'

A dramatic fire at a fireworks store in Southampton was started 'accidentally'.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have ruled out arson as a possible cause for the fire at the Firework Factory on Bitterne Road West, which led to a series of explosions.

Homes in the surrounding area had to be evacuated during the fire on May 13th - but nobody was injured.

The building has been declared unsafe and will be demolished.
