The campaign to reopen Manston Airport has moved a step forward, with the first stages of a planning application submitted.

The plan requires the compulsory purchase of the land from the current owners who want to build homes and a commercial development on the site.

The plans by Riveroak, who do not own site, want to upgrade the site primarily as a cargo airport, with some passenger services with a capacity of at least 12,000 air cargo movements per year.
