Results from constituencies across the South and South East have come into the Meridian newsroom overnight and through the morning. The Conservatives have won an absolute majority nationwide. David Cameron remains Prime Minister.

Meon Valley: Hollingbery 'it's just a matter of maths'

The Conservative George Hollingbery had a huge majority in the Meon Valley constituency. He won 31,578 votes, his next closest rival was David Alexander of UKIP on 7,665. He attributed the figures to a huge drop off of Lib Dem votes. After securing the seat he thanked the electorate for giving him a second term as their MP.
