Roads in the south-east are expected to be among the busiest in the country over the Easter break and today is likely to be the busiest day of the holiday.
Pensioner dies in crash on A272 in East Sussex
The A272 between The Green (Newick) and Piltdown, is closed in both directions closed due to fatal crash involving a car and a tanker.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1pm this afternoon. The driver of a Renault Megane, a man aged in his 70s, died from his injuries. The tanker driver was unhurt.
The road may need to remain closed into this evening for investigation work and recovery.
