First new grammar school in Kent for more than 50 years?
A decision on whether or not to allow a new grammar school in Kent could now be only days away. New grammars that select pupils on the basis on academic ability are officially banned.
So the school in Sevenoaks would be run as an annexe to an existing girls' school nine miles away in Tonbridge.
If approved by the Education Secretary, it would be the first new selective state school for more than 50 years.
Our social affairs correspondent Christine Alsford was given exclusive access to the school behind the bid as they wait for news.
