Downing Street has said that Eastbourne will receive £2 million after a fire that destroyed a building on the town's pier.
The Prime Minister is due to make the official announcement today. David Cameron said that he knows the fire on Eastbourne Pier will have 'hit the town hard', and pledged his support for local businesses.
Following the raging fire that took hold of Eastbourne pier on Wednesday, the prime minister visited the seaside town to announce vital funding for the pier. Two million pounds have been set aside by the government to help rebuild the iconic Sussex landmark. John Ryall sends this report from Eastbourne.
