A34 fully re-opened

The A34 has now reopened to traffic in both directions following a fatal collision earlier today.

Thames Valley Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses after a single vehicle collision shortly after 5am involving a lorry on the northbound carriageway just north of the A343 at Wash Common.

The driver of the lorry, a man aged in his sixties, died at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.

The northbound carriageway between the A343 and the A4 was closed for several hours and the southbound carriageway was also closed while the vehicle was recovered.

I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road was closed and officers attended this incident. The southbound carriageway had to be closed to allow the vehicle to be recovered safely. We are continuing to investigate this road traffic collision and I would ask that any witnesses who saw the collision get in touch via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.”
