Fire claims life of elderly woman

An elderly woman has died in a fire at a property at Copthorne in West Sussex. Firefighters were called to Snow Hill along the A264 just after half past midnight. The road has been closed for much of the day.

More than thirty firefighters tackled the flames. The fire was out by 11.30am, but officers are still at the scene investigating the cause.
