After a busy weekend Hampshire, the Olympic Torch will leave the county today. Starting in Portsmouth, the Flame will tour through Petersfield before heading into West Sussex.
A 92-year-old club steward has spoken of his pride in carrying the Olympic Torch in Portsmouth today. John Jenkins started the Torch Relay at Fratton Park, the home of Portsmouth Football Club. Mr Jenkins, who has followed or worked for the club since 1928, said it was a proud moment for him today.
He also hoped the Torch could help the beleaguered club's image after a turbulent time in recent years. The club was relegated from the Championship last season and is still in administration.
