Hampshire Police have confirmed that the body found in bushes by a roadside in Hook was that of a man in his 50's.

Officers were called to Griffin Way South close to junction 5 of the M3 at 8.30 this morning.

The road was closed for several hours as forensic investigators examined the scene. It has since been reopened.

Police have now said they are not treating the death as suspicious, but have sent a file to the coroner.

Police have sealed off part of a housing estate after a body was discovered in bushes at Hook in Hampshire.

Scene of crime officers are gathering evidence from a wooded area next to the B3349 Griffin Way South, just off junction 5 of the M3.

It's reported residents are being signed in and out of the area, with a cordon in place near Bow Field and Bartley Business Park close to the Virgin Media office.

Officers are advising motorists to avoid the area, and say the death is being treated as unexplained.

Hampshire Police are investigating after a body was discovered in undergrowth in Hook this morning.

Officers were called just after 8.30am to Griffin Way South, and the road remains closed while investigations are carried out.

They've released a brief statement:

Police were called at 8.33am on Sunday, December 4, to reports of a body found in bushes on Griffin Way South, Hook.

The B3349 Griffin Way South has been completely closed off in both directions.

Officers are currently at the scene and a cordon is in place.

The death is being treated as unexplained at this time.
