Serious alterations on train routes in South
Passengers travelling in the South are being told to expect major disruption until the end of the day.
South West Trains going to and from Waterloo have been affected by an earlier fire at Vauxhall station.
Services to Reading are reduced, while trains from Waterloo to Windsor are cancelled. The route between Portsmouth and London has also been seriously altered.
Train services running through Vauxhall may be cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes. Disruption is expected until tomorrow morning and stations are likely to be very busy this evening.
Here is a list of all disruptions and changes in the South:
- London Waterloo to Reading will run a reduced service may terminate at Clapham Junction
- London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside will not run in both directions.
- London Waterloo to Portsmouth stations via Guildford will start from Guildford (no train Waterloo to Guildford)
- London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Basingstoke will start and terminate at Basingstoke (no train Waterloo to Basingstoke)
- London Waterloo to Haslemere services will not run
- Stopping services between Basingstoke and London Waterloo, and Alton and London Waterloo, will only run between Basingstoke/Alton and Woking
- London Waterloo to Poole and Weymouth services will call at Clapham Junction, Woking and Basingstoke in both directions
- London Waterloo and Woking stopping services will now run to Guildford
- A train shuttle is running between Staines and Windsor in both directions where possible.
- London Waterloo to Salisbury and Exeter st Davids will now run as booked in both directions
- Replacement buses replace trains between Staines and Reading.
Tickets can be used on Great Western Railway via any reasonable route Southern Railway between Dorking/Epsom/Clapham Junction and London Victoria, London Buses on all reasonable routes, London Underground, Overground and Tramlink.
Tickets can also be used on Stagecoach buses 46, 70, 71 and 72 in the Guildford area and on Stagecoach bus Gold 1 between Aldershot and Farnborough.

Delays of 60mins on all routes to and from Waterloo - and other routes diverted
Passengers are being warned that all routes to and from London Waterloo are currently facing delays of 60 minutes.
Rail travel across the South has been severely disrupted by an earlier fire at Vauxhall station.
Here are the latest routes affected on South West Trains:
- London Waterloo to Reading will have a reduced service, trains may terminate at and start from Clapham Junction (no train from Clapham to Waterloo)
- London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside will not run
- London Waterloo to Portsmouth stations via Guildford will start and terminate at Guildford (no train from Guildford to London)
- London Waterloo to Haslemere services will not run
- Services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Basingstoke will start and terminate at Basingstoke (no train between Basingstoke and Waterloo)
- 'Stopping services' between Basingstoke and London Waterloo, and Alton and London Waterloo, will only run between Basingstoke/Alton and Woking (no train to Waterloo)
- London Waterloo to Poole and Weymouth services will call at Clapham Junction, Woking and Basingstoke in both directions
- 'Stopping services' between London Waterloo and Woking will now run to Guildford
- London Waterloo to Salisbury / Exeter St Davids will start and terminate at Basingstoke (no train from Basingstoke to Waterloo)
- Buses will replace the through trains between Farnham and London Waterloo via Ascot as far as Ascot
Major travel disruption due to fire at Vauxhall
Rail passengers across the South are facing major delays due to a fire at London's Vauxhall station.
Emergency services tackled the fire for 6 hours, between 2am and 830am. Although the fire has been put out, delays are expected to continue for the rest of the day.
Delays were made worse when Clapham Junction station also had to be closed this morning due to overcrowding.
As a result, many commuters were delayed for up to 2 hours - and services are still affected. All routes to and from London Waterloo have been affected.
South West Trains have warned that passengers not to travel unless absolutely essential:
These are the current warnings in place for South West Trains:
- London Waterloo to Reading will run as scheduled in both directions, but may terminate at Clapham Junction
- London Waterloo to Weybridge will run as scheduled in both directions, but may terminate at Clapham Junction
- London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside will not run in both directions
- Farnham to London Waterloo via Ascot services departing at 21 and 51 minutes past will not run
- - London Waterloo to Portsmouth stations may start and terminate at Woking and Guildford
- London Waterloo to Salisbury and Exeter st Davids will start and terminate at Basingstoke
South West Trains say they are arranging to operate a train shuttle between Staines and Windsor in both directions where possible.
The operator says tickets can be used on Great Western on any reasonable route and Southern Railway between Dorking/Epsom/Clapham Junction and London Victoria.
