Lorry overturns on A34 spilling its load of boxes

The A34 Southbound has re-opened after an overturned lorry was removed between A4 Bath Road / B4000 and A343 / Andover Road.

The A34 was closed all day yesterday after a lorry carrying cosmetics overturned. A lane reopened at 21:30 and the road fully open just after 03:00

Road users are advised that there are severe delays on the A34 in Hampshire following an incident with a lorry carrying hair products.

The road is closed southbound and one lane northbound between the A4 and the A343.

Police, Fire and Highways England Traffic Officers are currently at the scene dealing with the incident, which occurred at 6.45am today

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey as there are significant delays in the area.

Traffic is being diverted off the A34 at Speen via the A4 eastbound, A339, and B4640 southbound to Tothill to re-join the A34, following the hollow triangle symbol.

The carriageway is likely to remain closed until later this evening while a police investigation is carried out.

Debris must be cleaned off the road before recovery of the lorry can take place then repair work to the barrier carried out.

The A34 will fully reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

The southbound carriageway of the A34 in Berkshire is expected to remain closed until 6pm according to Highways England.

A serious crash between the A4 and A343 near Newbury led to a lorry containing cosmetic goods overturning. Hampshire Police have a Hazmat team clearing up the spillage on the road. It has caused more than six miles of queues, with delays of around an hour.

One lane of the northbound carriageway is currently closed.
