25 000 runners are pounding the streets this morning - taking part in the 25th Bupa Great South Run.

The race starts in Southsea, on Clarence Esplanade - a road which is transformed into a sea of colours every October, as twenty-five thousand runners don their charity vests and running kit to set off on their 10 mile journey.

The course takes you through Old Portsmouth, home of the Portsmouth Cathedral and Royal Garrison Church, before entering the Historic Dockyard.

Here runners are granted permission to run past the Royal Navy's current naval ships, and some of the most famous in the world - including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the museum which houses the Mary Rose.
