Thousands of cyclists take part in Southampton Sky Ride

10,000 cyclists took over the streets of Southampton today for a traffic-free bike ride. For one day only they had the roads to themselves, as traffic was diverted especially for the event.

Sarah Cooper was there and spoke to Olympic gold medallist Jason Queally and local fundraiser Gus McKechnie.

They set off from the Guildhall on a 7.8 kilometre route around the city. They had the roads to themselves as Cyclists from the age of six to seventy took part.

Thousands of cyclists have set off on this year's Sky Ride in Southampton City centre. The event means nearly five miles of road closure through the city. The council is warning drivers to be aware and consider alternative plans.
