99 mph winds batter the region

Blackmoor Fruit Nursery at Liss in Hampshire has been devastated by the storm, with hundreds of fallen trees.

Video. The storm brought down trees, damaged homes and cars and made roads impassable. Commuters faced delays and cancellations on the railways. Richard Slee reports.

A tree blocked the line near Alton inHampshire this morning. It was one of several incidents reported by South West Trains.

Freight trains were running through Eastleigh after the storm this morning. A rainbow appeared near Eastleigh Station.

Police say at least 125 trees had fallen in roads across Sussex by 6:30am.

Maintenance crews have been busy removing them. Residents say this one in Brighton's Kemp Town almost hit a house but was stopped by some scaffolding. It did, however, land on three cars.

A track in the New Forest was partially blocked by a fallen tree. Chris Barrett reported seeing minimal damage in the forest.

All sailings cancelled on Condor Ferries between Poole and Guernsey, Poole and Jersey, Weymouth and Guernsey and Weymouth and Jersey due to poor weather.
