Draw points the way for Gillingham's title

Gillingham clinched the npower League Two title today despite surrendering a two-goal lead to AFC Wimbledon.

The already-promoted Gills drew 2-2 to seal their first silverware since 1964 after they claimed the point they needed at home.

Deon Burton and Danny Kedwell gave the newly-crowned champions a 2-0 lead at home over struggling Wimbledon, who are now one point adrift of safety ahead of their final game of the season against Fleetwood.

Jack Midson and Jon Meades both scored after the break for the visitors but they were unable to find a much-needed third goal which would have lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Gillingham are Champions

Gillingham secured top spot in League Two after drawing with AFC Wimbledon. Its their first trophy in nearly fifty years. They let a 2 - 0 lead slip, but no one cared as the Gills went up as Champions. Oxford beat Rochdale 3 - 0 in their last home game of the season.

Aldershot gave their slim survival hopes a boost with a 1 - 0 win over Dagenham and Redbridge.
