Pensioner's dog at risk of leg amputation after it was hit by e-scooter in Bordon
The owner of a chihuahua, injured by an e-scooter, tells ITV Meridian's Christine Alsford about the ordeal.
A dog owner has been warning of the dangers of electric scooters after his pet was seriously injured in Bordon.
Mike Williams said he was walking his chihuahua, Digby, at the Deadwater Nature Reserve, when three young men mowed over the dog with electric scooters.
The incident left 10-year-old Digby in lots of pain. Two women helped Mike, who is disabled, to carry the dog back home.
Mike is now having to rely on the kindness of his neighbours to help look after his beloved pet.
Mike said: "It was really annoying. The kids just carried on without stopping and they damaged him so badly. It's so upsetting. He's everything to me.
"He's the only thing that keeps me going, Digby. He's my only soul mate."
Mike took Digby took the emergency vet, where his leg was reset following an x-ray.
He has now been fitted with a splint, but he's only allowed outdoors to exercise for 10 minutes a day.
Mike's neighbour, Wendy Sargeant, set up a Go Fund Me page following the incident, to raise the money to pay for the Digby's operation and a month of aftercare from the vet.
She said: "We need to raise between five and six thousand pounds.
"If we can't raise the money for that then unfortunately he'll have to have his leg amputated."
Whilst Mike doesn't back an outright ban on electric scooters, he thinks there should be more regulation and says e-scooter owners should be more considerate.
