Eurostar services will not return to Kent this year.

The high-speed train to Paris and Amsterdam has not stopped in Ashford International since the pandemic and will remain closed for the rest of this year.

The rail operator says it understands passengers' frustrations and will review the decision next year.

The Ashford MP told the Prime Minister that it was essential for his town to have Eurostar services stopping at the International Station as soon as possible.

Sojan Joseph, who was elected last summer, said it would help businesses, travellers, and the local area.

The MP for Ashford, Sojan Joesph said: "Would the Prime Minister support my efforts and those of other Kent colleagues to restore international train services to Ashford International station that will help economic growth in my constituency, Kent and the wider South East?"

A statement from Eurostar said: "Our Kent stations will remain closed throughout 2025 and will be reviewed in 2026.

"We understand that this may be frustrating, and we want to stress that we are closely monitoring the situation and, should there be any changes, we will provide an update.

"We recognise the importance of these stations to the local communities, and we remain fully committed to the future of rail connectivity and continue to work transparently with local councils and stakeholders."
