Icy lake plunge in memory of knife crime victim Charlie Cosser

Malcolm Shaw reports from Frensham Ponds in Surrey. He spoke to organiser Sue Wilson, Charlie's dad Martin Cosser, and friends of Charlie who took the plunge.

Campaigners have taken the plunge into an icy lake in memory of a teenager who was stabbed to death at a party in Sussex.

Charlie Cosser from Milford in Surrey was seventeen when he died in 2023

His family later launched a charity called Charlie's Promise to tackle knife crime. Their latest challenge is called the Twelve Dips of Christmas, and as the name suggests, involves a series of chilly open water swims over the festive season.

The latest, at Frensham Ponds in Surrey, saw more than 20 of Charlie's friends and family take to the water, after a minute's silence in his memory.

The swimmers have already raised thousands of pounds for the charity, which raises awareness of knife crime and tries to reduce it.
