Police launch murder probe after man in his 70s found dead in Aylesbury flat
A murder investigation is underway in Aylesbury after a man was found with serious injuries in a flat.
Police and the ambulance service were called to the block in Silverdale Close at 4:20pm yesterday (Friday 3 January).
The victim, a man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say the man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
An 80-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and remains in police custody.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Firstly, I would like to wish my condolences to the family of the man who sadly died following this incident.
“We have launched a murder investigation and I recognise the concern this will cause in the local community. However, we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and two parties are known to each other.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this incident and a scene will remain on for some time while our investigation is ongoing, we would apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
“We are confident that there is no wider risk to the community at this time, and I would urge anybody who has any concerns to please speak to any of our officers at the scene.
