Firefighters dealing with fire at historic building in Weymouth town centre

Fire crews are tackling a huge fire at an historic building in Weymouth town centre.

Firefighters were called to the site that housed the Dorset Burger Company on King Street just after 7:30am this morning. (Saturday 4 January)

The roof of the building has been completely destroyed. People are being advised to avoid the area and access to the station is restricted.

At its height, 60 firefighters were tacking the blaze.

People are being advised to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are currently dealing with an incident in King Street, Weymouth and access to Weymouth Railway Station is severely restricted.

"Please avoid the area.

"We have currently have a no flying zone over the incident area for drones until further notice."
