Coastguard issues warning after dog falls from cliffs in Hastings
The coastguard has issued a warning after they rescued a dog which had fallen from cliffs in Hastings.
Coastguard crews from Bexhill, Eastbourne and Hastings were called out on December 29 when the dog fell from the cliffs and got stuck on a ledge.
Teams worked with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to rescue the dog.
HM Coastguard, Hastings, said: "This was a great example of joint working with flank stations and other agencies, which resulted in a positive outcome for the dog.
"We would take the opportunity to remind people to be careful when walking dogs near the cliffs and to keep dogs on a lead."
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) says pet owners should keep their dogs on a lead if walking close to cliff edges or fast-flowing rivers.
If dogs go into the water or get stuck in mud, owners should not go after them.
They should call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
