Investigation underway after fire breaks out in Southampton flat

An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a flat in Southampton yesterday evening (Wednesday 1 January).

Hampshire firefighters attended the second-floor property on Woods Close at around 7.30pm.

Three individuals were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews from Hightown and St Mary's station used an aerial platform and jets to tackle the blaze.

They returned to base after a stop message was issued at around 10.20pm.

The cause of the fire is unknown but an investigation is underway.
