Wiltshire woman charged over fatal accident which killed boy, 9, in Dorset
A woman has been charged nine months after a fatal collision which left a nine-year-old boy dead in North Dorset.
The crash, involving a grey Citroen DS9, a white Ford Transit van and a DAF cattle transporter truck and trailer, happened on the A354 Salisbury Road at East Woodyates on Monday 25 March 2024.
The nine-year-old passenger of the Citroen – Zac Roe from Andover in Hampshire – died at the scene.
The driver of the Citroen – a woman aged in her 30s from Wiltshire – was arrested in connection with the collision and she has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Police say Zac Roe's family continues to be supported by specially-trained officers and have been updated with developments in the investigation.
Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT), said: “Our thoughts are very much with all those affected by the very sad death of young Zac Roe.“
"Following an extensive investigation, a woman has now been charged in connection with this matter and this means the case will now be the subject of active court proceedings.“
"It is vital that the justice system is allowed to follow its course and it is therefore important to stress that there should be no further commentary or sharing of information online or on social media that could potentially prejudice the court process.”
The woman is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 31st January 2025.
