Two bailed over baby girl XL bully attack in Kent
A baby girl remains in a serious condition after she was attacked by a dog believed to be an XL bully.Two people arrested in connection with the incident on Siskin Close in Hawkinge, near Folkestone, on Wednesday have been bailed.Kent Police said officers were called to an address at 2.23pm after a report the eight-month-old was bitten by a dog, thought to be the banned breed.Ambulance crews went to the scene and the infant was airlifted to a London hospital.She remains in hospital in a serious condition, police said on Friday.
The dog was seized and killed and an 18-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman who were arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control were bailed on Friday, the force confirmed.Kent Police said its inquiries into the incident are ongoing.From February 1 this year, it became a criminal offence to own the XL bully breed in England and Wales without an exemption certificate.Anyone who owns one of the dogs must have had the animal neutered, have it microchipped and keep it muzzled and on a lead in public, among other restrictions.The Government’s move to ban XL bullies followed a series of attacks.
