Weymouth attempted murder probe as man in his 70s hospitalised after attack

A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, after being attacked in Dorset.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Abbotsbury Road in Weymouth, last night (Tuesday 10 December) where a man was found with injuries to his head and face.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. His family have been informed.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Weymouth on suspicion of attempted murder at the scene. A large police presence remains in the area while enquiries continue.

A cordon and road closures near the scene have been put in place to allow for examinations of the area to be carried out.

Police are encouraging anyone with information or concerns to please speak with an officer.
