A34 closed due to accident in Oxfordshire

A crash involving a lorry at Abingdon in Oxfordshire closed the A34 in both directions this morning.

A lorry went into the central reservation, closing the road from A4183 Oxford Road (Abingdon North) to A415 Marcham Road (Marcham Interchange).

The closure is now just in place southbound with congestion to the Hinksey Hill Interchange.

Lane 2 remains also closed on the northbound. Barrier repairs will be ongoing into the afternoon.

There is a diversion in place via the A4183 Oxford Road and the A415 through Abingdon.

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol:

  • Leave the A34 at the A4183 Sunningwell Interchange.

  • At the T junction, turn left and join the A4183 Oxford Road.

  • Continue to the Dunmore Road Rbt.

  • Turn right and join Dunmore Road. Continue to the B4017 roundabout.

  • Use the 2nd exit and join Copenhagen Drive.

  • Continue to the Colwell Drive Rbt.

  • Turn left and join Colwell Drive. Continue to the A415 roundabout.

  • Turn right and join the A415.

  • Continue to the A34 Marcham Interchange roundabout and use the 1st exit to rejoin the A34 Southbound.
