Man charged with murder more than 30 years after woman's body is found in lake near Maidenhead

A man has been charged with murder more than 30 years after a woman's body was discovered in a lake near Maidenhead.

Donald Robertson, 66, has been accused of the murder of Shani Warren in 1987.

The 26-year-old's body was discovered bound and gagged in Taplow Lake.

Shani's murder is one of the longest unsolved crimes in the Thames Valley.

Robertson was absent from High Wycombe Magistrates' Court because of Covid-19 where he is being held in custody, but lawyers representing him were present as the charge was read out in court.

He has also been charged with the kidnap and rape of a 16-year-old girl in Slough in July, 1981.

Robertson is due at Reading Crown Court on Monday (29 November).
