Towns and cities across the region have been turning on their Christmas lights this week but in Newbury, they decided to make a day of it.

A series of free activities have been held with the aim of bringing much needed visitors and revenue to the town centre and to bring festive cheer.

Newbury was in Tier 4 before Christmas so many events were cancelled. Residents have been able to join activities including a family panto workshop, Christmas tree decorations, Christmas card making and Treasure Hunt.

Father Christmas had a grotto in the shopping centre. The light switch on was also followed by live music in the Market Place.
