Reading stabbing 'not linked to Tilehurst murder investigation,' say police

Police were called to the junction of Brayford Road and Lulworth Road

A man is in hospital in a serious condition after being stabbed in South Reading.

The victim - a man in his thirties was found at the junction of Brayford Road and Lulworth Road at 3.50am on Sunday 7 November.

Members of the public found the victim with stab wounds, and called the emergency services. The man is currently in hospital in a serious condition

A 33-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He is currently in police custody at this time.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Maggie Bruce, of Reading CID, said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation into a man who has been stabbed.

“I would appeal to anyone or saw or heard anything in the vicinity of Brayford Road and Lulworth Road last night or in the early hours of today, to contact the police.

“If anyone has any footage, whether dashcam, doorbell camera, CCTV or mobile phone, from the area then also please come forward.

“I want to reassure the public that this incident is not being linked to the tragic murder of Reece Heffernan in Romany Lane, in the town on Halloween.”
