Campaigners in Kent angry over Southern Water 'sewage leaks'
Video report by ITV Meridian's Tony Green
Health campaigners in Margate have staged a protest calling for Southern Water to be brought back into public ownership.
They say the company is threatening the health of people in the county after raw sewage leaked into the sea. The campaign group - Save Our NHS in Kent - normally concerns itself with Healthcare in Kent. This summer saw spills that kept swimmers out of the sea and saw Southern water in court for historic breaches of their discharge permits.
Many of the campaigners who came to the protest were Labour or Green party supporters or members.
But the spills continue and these protestors have had enough:
Southern Water says it is committed to the environment and aims to reduce pollution incidents by 75% by 2025.
The company says it is investing £200m a year in environmental protection.
