Police officer dismissed for relationship with domestic abuse victim
A Hampshire police officer has been sacked after having a relationship with a domestic abuse victim.
An independent review found him guilty of gross misconduct, stating that he acted for his own personal gain. The constable, who was based in Portsmouth, was found to have committed gross misconduct for his "inappropriate contact" with the "highly vulnerable" woman.
This included deleting messages to cover up the contact, as well as accessing the force's computer system without a policing purpose.
He had also asked the woman out for cocktails and texted her up to 50 messages a day.
