Number of pigs killed in fire at agricultural unit
A number of pigs have died in a large fire at an agricultural unit in Oxfordshire.
Crews from Oxfordshire and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently at the scene of the blaze near Wallingford just off Portway.
The initial call was made at 16:23.
Five fire appliances from Goring, Didcot, Abingdon, Caversham Road, Wokingham Road plus two specialist water carriers (Wheatley & Bracknell along with a hydraulic platform (Whitley Wood - Reading) are currently at the scene.
The fire is in an agricultural unit, where a number of pigs are known to have sadly have been involved.
People living nearby are being warned that there is still significant smoke in the area and, though the situation is not expected to get worse, people are advised to close their doors and windows.
