Maori memorial for police sergeant and rugby coach Matt Ratana - a year after his death
Video report by Andy Dickenson
A memorial was held in Sussex today for the rugby coach Matt Ratana. The police sergeant was killed, a year ago to the day, while on duty in London.
A special Maori ceremony was performed at his East Grinstead club - in honour of his New Zealand heritage.
Around £300,000 has already been raised for the foundation formed in Matt Ratana's name - to be spent on projects including at a rugby club in Croydon just miles from where he died.
A special memorial will now be held by the Metropolitan Police in November. 'Grief,' the club president reminded those there today, 'is the last show of love you can give someone.'
