Thousands of pounds stolen during fifth break in at Hindu temple in Swindon
Thousands of pounds in cash has been stolen at a Hindu temple in Swindon, during a fifth break in.
All of the doors in the temple were broken and the main area, where the deities are kept, was vandalised.
The space is considered to be "highly sanctified and consecrated" by the community, where only priests are allowed to enter.
The temple is said to be the only one in the county and is used by more than 10,000 people.
Many were looking forward to using it again, especially during the main Hindu festival period, after it had been closed for the majority of 18 months during the pandemic.
Police are investigating the incident.
