Servicewoman dies at RAF parachute jump site

A servicewoman has died at an RAF site in Oxfordshire while taking part in a jump.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said an investigation has been launched into the incident which took place at RAF Weston on the Green, near Bicester.

A RAF spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a service person has died at RAF Weston on the Green.

"Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues at this time.

"The incident is being investigated and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage."

RAF Weston on the Green is used by the RAF for parachute training.

Jeff Montgomery, a Safety and Technical Officer from British Skydiving said: "British Skydiving has instigated a board of inquiry, to look into the incident in question. And as part of the investigation we will formulate a report.

"Once we have concluded our findings we will publish the report."

On social media, The Veterans' Foundation said: "Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues."
