In a flap! RSPCA rescues gull trapped in tight spot between fence and outbuilding

The RSPCA have rescued a gull who became stuck between a fence and an outbuilding in Kent.

The RSPCA rescued the juvenile gull in Ramsgate after a member of the public heard a scratching sound coming from behind the fence, but the building blocked from view the unfortunate animal which was stuck there, so they contacted the RSPCA for help.

The gull became trapped in the tight space

RSPCA Inspector Brian Milligan managed to use a reach and rescue pole to grab the bird and bring the young bird to safety.

Brian said: “This poor gull was in a flap after getting well and truly stuck in the small gap, about four inches wide, between a fence panel and a school outbuilding. It was lucky someone heard the poor bird scratching when they did and called us otherwise this may have had a very different outcome.

“We rely on the public to be our eyes and ears and always urge people to keep an eye out for wildlife who may need our help. This juvenile was taken to the RSPCA Thanet branch for some TLC before being released back into the wild.”

The charity says the bird is now recovering well.
