Meet the Kent singer using her music to start conversations about mental health
Video report by ITV Meridian's Abigail Bracken
A singer from Kent has been using music to encourage teenagers to talk about their mental health.
Katie Kittermaster, a former Cranbrook School student, has been touring local schools and talking about her own struggles with anxiety.
She said that it's "really good to see that it's having an impact."
"I talk to them about the importance of mental health awareness, how to love yourself a little bit more, hot to look out for your friends, to see the warning signs.
"People will come and speak to me at the end and say 'because of your talk, I am going to tell my mum that I am self-harming.'"
The singer, who lives in High Weald, has seen her social media posts during lockdown get hundreds of thousands of views.
Her social media success has earned her a global publishing deal, and she'll now be supporting Olly Murs in four arena concerts.
"I started posting regularly on social media," she said.
"Obviously TikTok has come in and changed people's lives and careers, especially for up and coming artists it's a really good way to reach millions of people."
She'll be performing in her first headline show next month.
