Man seriously assaulted outside Andover supermarket dies from injuries
A man from Andover who was seriously assaulted in an incident on River Way in July has sadly died.
John William Carroll, 62, was assaulted outside the Tesco Extra store at around 9.18pm on Thursday 29 July.
He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury but sadly passed away on Tuesday 10 August.
His family have described John as a 'well-loved man' to all who knew him.
They added: "We, as a family, would like or privacy to be respected during this extremely difficult time.”
Hampshire Police are now treating the incident as a homicide investigation.
Shane Richard Donovan, 27, of York Court in Andover, has been remanded in custody after a court hearing.
An 18-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, and a 36-year-old woman, all from Andover, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have all been released on police bail.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information, or dash-cam footage, to come forward by calling 101 quoting Operation Water.
