Pride Canterbury to return on Saturday the 11th of September
Pride Canterbury has announced that this year's event will be going ahead in the city on Saturday the 11th of September.
There will be a parade through the streets of the city, followed by a "day long" party in the Dane John's Gardens.
Boyband Five will be headlining this year's event, and will be joined by faces from Ru Paul's Drag Race UK, as well as local and international LGBTQ+ performers.
It has been two years since the previous event, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Those behind the event say they excited to bring it back and to fight for equality across the community.
Committee member Jon Fitter-Harding said:
"It’s been over 2 years since we gathered together in the City to celebrate Pride in June 2019. Whilst this year we are coming together in September, it is no less important to acknowledge the fight for equality across the community and the struggles faced during Covid."
The event this year will be supported by local businesses and bigger names, such as Canterbury BID and Canterbury Christ Church University.
